Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play boasts excellent base systems with impressive divisions and engaging gameplay. However, the SR system has left players puzzled since its launch, particularly due to the inconsistent amount of SR you get for winning and losing. Read on to learn more about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play and its SR system.
If you’re struggling to climb the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play ladder, don’t worry, You’re not alone. Many players including myself and some friends have hit a Skill Rating (SR) wall after a few weeks, which means they earn fewer points per match. But don’t give up just yet – there’s an algorithm behind this craziness. In this guide, we’ll show you how to boost your SR and earn more points in COD MW2 Ranked Play matches.
How to earn more SR in MW2 Ranked play
Many players perceive a false sense of progress in the Bronze Division as you more than likely belong to a higher rank. Winning matches in this division can earn you between 80 to 190 SR (which is great). If you consistently perform well, your rating will gradually improve, eventually leading you to Platinum or Diamond where you’ll likely hit an SR wall.
As you climb up the ranks, you may encounter a barrier where your progress slows down. In MW2 Ranked Play, you may only earn 20 to 40 SR for a win, while your teammates are still earning 50 to 90 despite your comparable or even superior individual performance. This is because the SR system also takes into consideration team-based factors in your recent matches.
If you believe that one victory can earn you a ton of SR, then you’re mistaken. Even if you performed well in your last match and won, that’s not enough to gain a lot of SR points. If you’ve had a negative performance in your previous three matches and lost them, then your next victory won’t give you high gains. To consistently earn high SR points in COD MW2 Ranked Play, you need to rank high on the leaderboards and ensure that your Kill/Death (K/D) ratio is at least 1.3. Additionally, if your team performs well, it can positively impact your SR gains. Therefore, strive to maintain a high K/D ratio and rank high on the leaderboards to achieve consistent gains.
It’s a confusing system, but it is also really rewarding when you level up the ranks. Ranked Play is all about consistency… as long as it’s winning. Learn your play style and get good at it in order to play better for an extended amount of time. Getting more SR is also a lot easier when playing with friends, so you can communicate properly.
