Is my iPhone compatible with iOS 16?
Below is the list of the iPhone models that are compatible with iOS 16. Whilst all the models below are compatible with iOS 16, some of the features will only be available to those that use the new A12 Bionic chip.

iPhone models that are not compatible with iOS 16
Unfortunately, as with any major software update there comes a time when certain models due to limitations cannot be upgraded. This includes the following iPhone models:
- iPhone 6S
- iPhone 6S Plus
- First-generation iPhone SE
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
This does mean that over time, these specific iPhone models will encounter compatibility issues and security-related fixes may not be available for them.
How to find out your iPhone model
If you’re unsure about the model of your iPhone, you can find it using the following steps:
- Go to ‘Settings’
- Scroll to ‘General’
- Click on ‘About’
In the top section, you’ll see the title ‘Model Name’ and to the right of this, you’ll be able to see your iPhone model.
