Whilst the Magic Keyboard certainly looks great and it’ll definitely stand you out from the crowd. It is still just a keyboard and tracking pad with a charging port that will set you back quite a bit of money.

Should you buy the Magic Keyboard?

Whilst the Magic Keyboard is very expensive and heavy. There are many reasons why it is great to have for the iPad Pro, and why I love it so much, which is why I’ll give you my honest Magic Keyboard Review. I have been personally using the 12.9-inch Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro for over a year now and it has never failed me, it has only made things easier.

Magic Keyboard Review – The Keyboard

The Keyboard that is part of the Magic Keyboard uses the scissor-switch mechanism which is loved by the majority of Keyboard users. It provides a good amount of travel and is fairly quiet, however still gives you that great and satisfying typing experience.

Whilst the keyboard is brilliant and lives up to the standard of any regular keyboard, it is missing a function row. The function row to some users is a crucial part of their experience, however, for me personally not having a function row has made no difference to my experience using the Magic Keyboard and I still use it daily for many tasks.

Magic Keyboard Review – The Trackpad

The Trackpad for the Magic Keyboard is brilliant. It is responsive, and satisfying and makes using the iPad Pro more satisfying. The cursor on the iPad Pro when using the trackpad is excellent, it recognizes when you move on text, and buttons and when you hover light or dark images and backgrounds, in which case the cursor goes dark or light depending on the background and even changes shape and size depending on what you’re hovering. It is a subtle but nice touch.

The only issue I have with the trackpad for the iPad Pro is the size of it. The trackpad is small which could be annoying for some users when they come from using a larger device like the MacBook Pro 16-inch which has a massive trackpad. I personally use both a 13-inch MacBook Pro and a 16-inch MacBook Pro and I haven’t had any issues with the trackpad size personally. If I need to do more strenuous tasks then I naturally opt for a laptop, however, for any other tasks such as blog writing and basic web editing then I would opt for the iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard.

The design and build quality of the Magic Keyboard

The design of the Magic Keyboard, in my opinion, is great, it looks smart, it looks cool and It gives the iPad Pro a more distinguished look than what the other keyboards out there offer. The way it looks like it is floating is super cool and it also makes it very easy to take off and put on the keyboard depending on whether you want to use it as an iPad or as a laptop.

The build quality of the Magic Keyboard really lives up to Apple’s standard, it is incredibly sturdy and after over a year of use it hasn’t lost any of its rigidness. This does come at a price though, in the fact that it is heavier than most keyboards, in my opinion though, this doesn’t make any difference. To me it makes me feel more comfortable throwing it in my bag whether I am going on holiday or going to the coffee shop to work knowing that the screen is safe and it won’t get scratched.

Should You Buy the Magic Keyboard for iPad?

The decision to invest in the Magic Keyboard for iPad ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. If you frequently use your iPad for productivity tasks such as typing, editing documents, or navigating complex software, the Magic Keyboard can significantly enhance your workflow. The trackpad and comfortable typing experience make it a compelling option for users who want a laptop-like experience on their iPad.

However, it’s important to consider the drawbacks of the Magic Keyboard. Its weight and bulkiness may make it less suitable for users who prioritize portability. Additionally, artists and creatives who rely heavily on drawing and sketching might find a dedicated iPad drawing stand more suitable for their needs.

Summary of my Magic Keyboard Review

The Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad is a reliable and well-designed accessory that enhances the functionality of your iPad Pro or iPad Air. With its sleek design, adjustable viewing angles, responsive trackpad, and comfortable typing experience, it offers a laptop-like experience on your iPad. However, its weight and bulkiness may not be suitable for all users, especially those who prioritize portability. Consider your specific needs and preferences before making a decision.
