How to connect your PS5 to the internet

In this blog post, we will cover how to connect your PS5 to the internet, you have a choice and can either use a wireless or wired connection to your internet router.

We will go over both options for you below, so you can connect your PS5 to the internet and start playing online and streaming your favorite content.

Connect your PS5 to the internet using a wireless connection

1. Go to Settings
2. Click on Network
3. In Network click on Settings
4. Then click the option Set Up Internet Connection
5. Your PS5 will then display all of the wireless networks found within range. Select the network that you want to connect to, and then follow the onscreen options followed by entering your wireless password. Your Wi-Fi Password can generally be found on the back of your router
6. In the rare case that your network doesn’t appear, go back to Step 4 and select Set Up Manually, and then enter the details required
7. Once you have finished setting up your internet connection, your PS5 will now be online and ready to stream content or game online

Connect your PS5 to the internet using a wired connection

1. To use a wired connection for your PS5, you will first need to have an Ethernet cable
2. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of the LAN ports in the back of your router
3. Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back of your PS5
4. Then on your PS5 go to Settings.
5. Click on Network
6. In Network click on Settings
7. Click on Set Up Internet Connection
8. Click on Set Up Wired LAN
9. Once you’ve selected Connect and have followed the on-screen prompts, the required settings are automatically selected
10. Once you have set up your wired internet connection, your PS5 will now be online and ready to game online or stream content

If you are having any trouble connecting your PS5 to the internet using a wireless or wired connection, and you are seeing an error code. You will likely have to investigate via the PlayStation Support pages for more information.

However, before you do this you can retry connecting to the internet using the steps provided above. Or, restart your PS5 and try again.

The issue might also be down to your home broadband. If you suspect that it is, try restarting your router and trying again. If that doesn’t help contact your broadband support so they can assist.
